Music

Music is the heartbeat of the worship service, and at St. Paul's we are committed to providing music that inspires and enhances the spiritual life of our parishioners.

Parish Choir

This is the choir for adults and high school students. The choir sings anthems in a variety of musical styles for the 10 a.m. service and leads the congregation in hymns and sung liturgy. The psalms typically are sung by the choir in four parts (Anglican Chant).  Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 with Sunday morning warm-up at 9:00. We are looking to build the Parish Choir, so please speak to our organist and choir director, Sheldon Eldridge, if you are interested in participating in this important ministry. He notes, “It has been my experience that people who love to sing and are willing to make a commitment to the choir find it both rewarding and life transforming. We provide training in choral, hymnal and service music that enriches worship and deepens spiritual growth.”

Children’s Choir

The Children’s Choir currently has six singers, who are working with our choir director to produce sound, read music and sing for our worship services. The children also join the Parish Choir for special occasions and participate in events such as youth services, Christmas Pageant and other musical programs. They rehearse after the 10 a.m. Sunday service.

Special Events

Throughout the year, special music programs have includedl Evensong, joint concerts with neighboring church choirs, and festive Christmas and Easter services with brass and other instruments. If you play a musical instrument, please speak to our choir director about participating in worship services , or Laurie DeBiasse, who conducts the youth orchestra for our Christmas Pageant.  St. Paul’s also has a full set of hand bells which have been used in stand- alone performances and within choral settings. A minimum of training is needed to participate in this beautiful music ministry, and the sound created adds a special quality to our worship service.

 Bell Choir

St. Paul’s handbell choir has performed occasionally over the years, adding richness and beauty to worship services. We are looking to reinvigorate this ministry and invite anyone interested in becoming a bell ringer to talk to our organist and choir director.
