Youth Group The Youth of St. Paul's are treated with respect and encouraged to become active members. Often, the youth are divided into a middle school group and a senior high group. The senior high group usually plans a mission trip each summer where the youth actively help a community with various painting and repair projects.
2010-211 Youth Group This past July, St. Paul's saw 15 of our energetic teens travel to Beijing, China to begin a two week service trip. The youth, plus two chaperones, met up with St. Paul's former Youth Minister, Tim Wong, who showed them Peking University where he teaches English. The St. Paul's group immediately began to help the adult students with their conversational English and work on chores in and around the University. A trip to an orphanage for blind children was a moving experience for all as everyone pitched in to play with the children and to do some small tasks around the orphanage. Sightseeing played a big role in this around-the-world service trip with the Great Wall and all the palaces being just some of the highlights. This group spent a good part of the year fund-raising for this trip both in and around St. Paul's. What can often be a tireless undertaking actually proved to be the opposite. The St. Paul's community rallied like never before around these fund-raising events and came together as a community to send these young people off on an adventure of a life-time.
The Youth Group of 2011-2012 will get to plan and embark on a smaller scale and closer-to-home mission trip this year. Choosing an adventure camp in the U.S., the group will get to work together in small groups to help residents of a community repair and clean up after a disaster. Devotional time and a few excursions as a group make these trips a very rewarding experience for everyone. |
